Easter in Ibiza (Santa Semana)

Holy week (Santa Semana) is celebrated in every town & city in Spain. In Ibiza Town Easter is remembered & celebrated with a series of processions that start, normally, on Palm Sunday and take place, usually on Maundy Thursday & Good Friday.

This is a somber occasion that marks probably the most important event in the Roman Catholic calendar. Regardless of religion, you are likely to find moving as the procession weaves its way slowly along the cobbled streets of Ibiza Town. The sound of trumpets and drums add to the atmosphere.

If you are in Ibiza Town over the Easter period then really try to make time to watch the procession that normally starts around 7pm and takes a couple of hours
