Las Dalias is a must visit place of interest on the White Isle. Located close to San Carlos village towards the northeast of Ibiza is the hippy market that has become a bit of an institution on the island. It may be a bit of a cliche but this is more than just a market, with music, food and drink...it's more a way of life, and offers locals & visitors a chance to meander around the many stalls selling clothes, jewellery, art and general "nick-nacks" to help you celebrate and remember your time in Ibiza. Ibiza in February is when the island starts to spring back to life after, what is normally, am subdued January…but then much of Europe (ski resorts excluded) are pretty subdued in January! Many restaurants close in January – this is the one chance of the year for the owners to give their staff and themselves a well-earned break after a long hot summer & busy Christmas, so February sees many restaurants re-open. The Summer Solstice (longest day / shortest night) in Ibiza is, of course, a reason for celebration. The day, but mostly the night, is known as the fiesta of San Juan as well as Noche de San Juan (San Juan night) In 2017 the longest day is Friday 23 rd June In 2018 the longest day will be Thursday 21 st June Many towns & villages in Ibiza celebrate this night, including Santa Eulalia, Santa Gertrudis & San Juan. If you are in Ibiza then a great place to hear do is either Talamanca or Figueretas, the sandy bays on either side of Ibiza Town At sundown the locals light small bonfires on the beach (normally not allowed!) The many Saints of Ibiza Ibiza is famous for many things and know by names such as “The White Isle”, and the island does have a reputation for some fairly hedonistic activity in certain areas in the summer months... but the ying & the yang of Ibiza counter balances these sinners as it is also the island of Saints. There are 14 saints who have been honoured & commemorated with a village in their name...and of course a church. Each of these saintly villages are known by either the Spanish (Castellano) name, or also by the Ibicencan (a form of Catalan) name. Here are the 14 saints with the Ibicencan name in brackets if it is also known by this name, and the saints’ day when you can expect a few festivities to take place in the town or village. Holy week (Santa Semana) is celebrated in every town & city in Spain. In Ibiza Town Easter is remembered & celebrated with a series of processions that start, normally, on Palm Sunday and take place, usually on Maundy Thursday & Good Friday. This is a somber occasion that marks probably the most important event in the Roman Catholic calendar. Regardless of religion, you are likely to find moving as the procession weaves its way slowly along the cobbled streets of Ibiza Town. The sound of trumpets and drums add to the atmosphere. If you are in Ibiza Town over the Easter period then really try to make time to watch the procession that normally starts around 7pm and takes a couple of hours

Atlantis - Found ! If you are looking for a lesser known area of Ibiza then head to “Atlantis” or more officially the area is Sa Pedrera & Raco des Llenyan, close to the area of Punta Roja which is between Cala D’Hort beach and then rock of Es Vedra. Head towards Cala d’Hort (PM-803) and look for the signs to Torre de Savinar You can either take the track that leads to Torre de Savinar, and enjoy spectacular views (after a scramble up the hill) to Es Vedra…or you head in the other direction down towards the sea at Atlantis…the walk is about an hour but in the summer it can take longer as you trek over the sands & rocks… take  plenty of water and our advice is to head out early before the sun is too hot, or go late to grab some spectacular sunset views.. but take a torch for the walk back to the mountain side !

Walk from Santa Agnes to Ses Balandres Gorge   Ibiza is full of surprises... Hidden beaches & coves...unbelievably stunning landscapes…& views that a camera on a mobile phone cannot do justice to. This challenging walk is not very long but the scramble down the gorge of Ses Balandres is enough to get the heart pumping for even the most experienced and fittest of walkers. 12th October - Hispanity Day 12 th October is a Hispanity Day (“Dia La Hispanidad” or “Fiesta Nacional de Espana”); a public holiday that is celebrated throughout Spain and in other countries in the World. The reason - well it is to celebrate the arrival in 1492 of Christopher Columbus arriving in The Americas. Yes yes Christopher Columbus was an Italian but was hired by the Spanish Catholics Monarchs to colonise The Americas which today is the Spanish speaking Caribbean including Cuba, Hispanola, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico & Haiti, and paved the way for most of South America, now known as Latin America to be Spanish speaking. In Ibiza there are not too many events that are helps to celebrate, instead the weather should still be good enough to enjoy some late summer sun. August 24 - Patron Saints Day In San Antonio  24 th August is Patron Saints Day and each year the celebrations start from as early as the 18 th August (well this is Ibiza where every day is a celebration) and continue until early September. The Patron Saint of San Antonio is St Bartholomew. This main celebrations on the 24 th August start early at 8:30am, at 10:30am is a foam & water party (sorry children only). In the early evening after Mass is a procession through the streets, including the firecrackers to warn off evil spirits. The day culminates in fireworks at midnight – head to the mina square opposite the marina for the best vantage point. You can also expect to see some traditional dancing, and music ranging from rock to reggae. The celebrations date back to 1235 when the kingdom of Aragon took control of the island and introduced Christianity.
